Environmental Career Scholarship

 

The scholarship application deadline is February 28, 2026.

The IWEA Environmental Career Scholarship is designed to aid science minded students preparing for college. IWEA will award a $500 scholarship to a high school student who is college bound and interested in science and the environment. Scholarship winners will be introduced at the Illinois Wastewater Professionals Conference. The IWEA will offer a reimbursement grant of up to $250 to the teacher who wrote letter of recommendation for the scholarship award winner.

Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for the scholarship.

• Be an Illinois resident and attend high school in Illinois.
• Be a college bound senior, willing to submit enrollment documentation before receiving the scholarship remittance.
• Have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.5.
• Submit a complete application packet to Scholarship Committee

IWEA asks that all applicants use our online application form. The online application asks you to attach an essay/personal statement, a reference letter, and your transcripts. Please submit these documents in PDF format. It is not necessary for the transcripts to be "official" transcripts. You may want to read through the detailed instructions before completing the on-line application.
