Countdown to WEFTEC '02

WEFTEC `02 (September 28 - October 2, 2002) is less then one month away and you do not want to miss any of the great opportunities that this conference & exhibition will be providing! As the Illinois WEA is one of the Member Associations co-hosting the Local Arrangement Committee (LAC), we have been busy coordinating special events that will make this outstanding conference even more fun. Once again, the theme of the local host welcoming booth will be the Chicago Blues so come by the booth and enjoy the festivities. In fact, this is why you should volunteer to staff the booth...this is where the action is and you will have a good time.

The IWEA/Central States Sunday evening reception will continue its outstanding tradition. The LAC has secured the Sheraton Towers, which is a great place to party, kick off the conference, and make important plans with our friends for the rest of the conference.

The Local Arrangements Committee (LAC) suggests that you put together a 4-some and come golf at the outstanding Forest Preserve National Course in Oak Forest...you will have a great time! Besides, it is for the good cause of supporting WERF. We promise to be finished in plenty of time to return to the Loop and get ready for the Sunday evening IWEA reception.

Both the LAC for WEFTEC `02 and our very own IWEA Ten Day Water Environment Curriculum groups should be commended for their super-dedicated work on the upcoming WEFTeach event at WEFTEC. We are parading out a totally revised edition of our middle school, award-winning curriculum for over 100 science teachers. We want to remind everyone that this would be an excellent time to bring this program back to your town and introduce it to students in your area.

Remember to remind your spouse or significant other that WEFTEC offers an outing program for them. Why not bring your “better half” to a great conference in a great city. IWEA members need to be mature enough not to be too jealous of our mates when they are having a blast!

Not-so-subtle Reminder: We want you to register for WEFTEC `02 and reap the benefits of our outstanding technical program (including our Local Issues Sessions); tour the fabulous exhibit hall, view new products; go on the facility tours; and participate in as many of the special events as possible! Sign Up Now!!

Post Script: Do not miss the September WE&T cover articleÉit has a very distinctive Illinois viewpoint.
