Day 2: Dissolved Oxygen

1. Review of the water cycle & the impact of pollution.
2. Overview of dissolved oxygen in water.
3. Lab Demonstration: dissolved oxygen

Day 3: Drinking Water

1. Importance of drinking water.
2. Methods of drinking water preparation & transport.
3. Video: "Water Filtration".

Day 4: Wastewater Collection

1. Explanation of wastewater.
2. Importance of pre-treatment.
3. Description of a sewer collection.
4. Video: "Deep Tunnel Sewers".

Day 5: Wastewater Treatment

1. Importance of wastewater treatment.
2. Explanation of various treatment methods.
3. Video: "H2O - TV Wastewater Treatment".

Day 6: Micro-organisms

1. Review of activated sludge & trickling filter processes.
2. Explanation of a biological treatment system.
3. Video: "Micro-organisms in Wastewater Treatment".

Day 7: Solids Processing

1. Review of wastewater treatment; end product is sludge.
2. Explanation of various sludge treatment & disposal methods.
3. Video: "Solids Treatment and Processing."

Day 8: Groundwater

1. Impact of pollution on groundwater.
2. Explanation of land treatment systems including remedial action.
3. Video: "The Groundwater Adventure".

Day 9: Water Conservation

1. Importance of conserving water.
2. Examples of water conservation & proper disposal of household wastes.
3. Video: "Water, the Lost Treasure".
4. Follow up: employment opportunities in the water environment.

Day 10: Field Trips

1. Wastewater Treatment Plant and/or Water Filtration Plant
